By Julian Benbow, Globe staff FOXBOROUGH -- Eventually, 100 would come for Revolution goalkeeper Matt Reis. He had been sitting on 99 wins since March 31. The Revolution slumped through April taking three straight losses to FC Dallas, DC United, and the New York Red Bulls. They were killed by slow starts, they did themselves no favors by running on empty offensively.

Baseball The Phillies placed Cliff Lee on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday, three days after he strained his left oblique in the 10th inning at San Francisco. Lee threw 10 scoreless innings Wednesday but got a no-decision. The lefthander had been scheduled to pitch Monday at Arizona. Righthander Kyle Kendrick will make that start . . . The Cubs put righthander Ryan Dempster on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right quadriceps and recalled outfielder Tony Campana from Triple A Iowa.

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll headed in the winner in the 87th minute to clinch a 2-1 comeback win over Everton at Wembley on Saturday and secure a place in England's FA Cup final. For the first time since arriving 15 months ago for $56 million, the striker scored in consecutive games. "It's the best feeling ever," Carroll said. Bernardo Anor scored in the 56th minute and the Columbus Crew beat host Toronto FC, 1-0, Saturday. The opportunistic Anor put the Crew in front after Toronto captain Julian de Guzman lost possession in midfield. Columbus drove toward the goal and, after a nice give and go, a clearing attempt by defender Logan Emory bounced straight back to Anor, who banged it in from close range. Columbus (2-1-0) improved to 2-0-5 at BMO Field. Toronto (0-3-0) is winless in MLS play, but is just one game away from the CONCACAF Champions League final.

Chris Wondolowski scored two goals and Shea Salinas added another as the visiting San Jose Earthquakes earned a 3-0 win over Toronto FC Saturday. Wondolowski almost had the hat trick, but he hit the goal post from close range in the 87th minute. Toronto has never beaten San Jose at home, going 0-2-3. Toronto showed flashes of style on offense, but did not have the clinical finish to take advantage. And it was let down by its defense. Manager Aron Winter's team has allowed six goals in two games.
