So the Patriots and Wes Welker are about on the same wavelength with a contract as Chad Ochocinco was with the playbook last season. They're not close. Welker took his frustrations over the state of negotiations - which have only regressed since the Patriots offered two years at $16 million guaranteed before last season - public in comments to the Boston Herald last week. The Patriots did not react kindly to having their affairs aired that way. Big bulletin there.

By Michael Whitmer, Globe Staff FOXBOROUGH -- Center Dan Koppen is taking part in organized team activities for the Patriots this week after missing nearly all of last season with an ankle injury he suffered in the opener. Following a two-hour practice on the fields behind Gillette Stadium, Koppen met with the media, and said it wasn't easy watching as the team advanced to the Super Bowl. "You've got to be mentally strong enough to handle that and say injuries happen and move on, but it's tough to sit there and watch," Koppen said.

By Zuri Berry, Globe Staff INDIANAPOLIS -- With legacies on the line in Indianapolis, it's fitting that two teams with so much history, both this season and in the Super Bowl, face each other in the culmination of the 2011-12 season and playoffs. Tom Brady can join Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana as only the third quarterback in NFL history to win four Super Bowls if he can lead his New England Patriots to a win over the New York Giants at Lucas Oil Stadium today. Brady, who has 16 career postseason wins, would also pass Montana for most wins in the playoffs if he wins today.

Brazilian newspapers are speculating that the country's most beautiful export - supermodel Gisele Bundchen - may be pregnant with her second child. Tom Brady 's wife has not commented on the reports, and her assistant would not confirm or deny anything when contacted. Citing people who recently dressed Bundchen and said her size has changed, the newspaper Agora Sao Paulo speculates that Mrs. Brady is a few months pregnant. She and the three-time Super Bowl champ already have one son, 2-year-old Benjamin . (Brady also has a son, Jack , with ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan .)

The legend is dead, the prince has turned back into a frog, and...well, use whatever other cliché you want. A performance as bad as Tom Brady's tonight in Super Bowl XLVI deserves a lead just as lame. Sorry, Tommy Boy, this one's on you. Your hideous performance led to the Giants' 21-17 Super Bowl title win. How embarrassing for your coach, your teammates, and your fans. But especially for you, boy wonder. It was one thing when you led the game off with a safety, which surely put plenty of faith into the heart of Patriot Nation, but just when you have the game, just when...

Tom Brady has thrown for 940 yards in the first two games of the season. (Jim Davis / Globe Staff) By Zuri Berry, Boston.com Staff Staff FOXBOROUGH -- They're video game numbers. So much so, that Chad Ochocinco got blasted over speaking of them in awe on Twitter. But if Tom Brady keeps this up, the jaw-dropping 940 yards passing through the first two games of the season, Patriots receivers might as well make a precedent of giving their Tom Brady comments before they're asked for them.

Tom Brady agreed to a restructuring of his contract with the Patriots within the last week, a league source confirmed Wednesday night. By doing so, he saves New England $7.2 million against the salary cap for the coming season, but his cap number in 2013 and 2014 now will be higher. Under the original terms of the four-year contract extension he signed in 2010, which went into effect last season, Brady's base salary for 2012 was to be $5.75 million. Now, according to NFL Players' Association documents, his base salary will be $950,000.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Patriots quarterback Tom Brady apologized this morning for his comment yesterday about Buffalo hotel accommodations. Brady was responding to a question yesterday about the relationship he has with his father, Tom Brady Sr., and mentioned how supportive his dad has been, attending away games during Brady's college days at Michigan and as a professional with the Patriots. "Even when I started my pro career, he traveled to Buffalo. I don't know if you guys have ever been in the hotels in Buffalo, but they're not the nicest places in the world," Brady said yesterday.

Matt Light did the Tour de Bristol on Monday, stopping by numerous radio and television programs on the ESPN campus. And the recently retired Patriots offensive lineman said not to expect him to reconsider his decision to walk away from football. "Zero percent," Light said when asked what the chances were of a comeback. "Not in a bad way but when you close the door, it's always good to keep walking. " And while Light's enthusiasm for the game waned, he said he had no doubt that quarterback Tom Brady will play for a long time to come.

Matt Light did the Tour de Bristol on Monday, stopping by numerous radio and television programs on the ESPN campus. During "NFL Live," he played a game of "Patriots Percentages" and was asked a variety of questions pertaining to his now-former team. Here are the questions Light was asked, along with his answers: Percentage chance Tom Brady plays for 10 more years… One hundred percent. If you said 20 years, I'd probably give you 100 percent. I mean, they're going to have to cart him off. … He could be playing to 55, maybe even 60. Percentage chance...

Oy vey. Does Gisele Bundchen ever age? Or wrinkle, or sag? The answer, if the new cover of Paris Vogue is any indication, is not yet. The mega model is shot topless from behind for the mag's new "Health" issue, her shapely backside lightly coated with sand. Tom Brady 's wife wears a tiny bikini bottom in the photo, shot by famed fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin , but not another stitch. Former NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah is now writing for NFL.com, and today posted an article on the 10 best players under the age of 25 in the league. Not surprisingly, Patriots' TE Rob Gronkowski made the cut . Jeremiah writes this of the 23-year old, who set new records for touchdowns and receiving yards by a tight end in 2011: The word "Beast" is grossly overused in today's sports vernacular. However, in Gronk's case, there is no better term to describe him. In just his second season, he established himself as the best tight end in the...

It was the 18th time he has been named AFC offensive player of the week. (The real news would be if he were named defensive player of the week sometime)

How much longer might Tom Brady play? Turns out his wife is wondering that same thing. In an interview with Sports Illustrated's Peter King , Brady answers the question this way: "My wife [ Gisele Bundchen ] said to me, ‘When I met you [in 2006], you said you wanted to play 10 more years. How come that number never goes down?' " says Brady. "It's that I love the game. I love the game. I'm going to play until they tell me they don't want me anymore. Receiver Donte' Stallworth is back with the Patriots, five years after his first stint with the team, and on Tuesday said the allure of returning to the postseason and the friends he still has in New England made signing here an easy decision. "Still got a lot of friends on the team, so I just thought that it made a lot of sense for me to come back here...
