Ales Hemsky and Jeff Petry also scored, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Taylor Hall and Ryan Smyth each added a pair of assists and Devan Dubnyk made 30 saves for Edmonton. Jordin Tootoo and Jonathon Blum scored for the Predators. Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne gave up three goals on 13 shots in the first period and was replaced by Anders Lindback to start the second period.

Raffi Torres also scored for the Coyotes, who passed Los Angeles and San Jose to take over the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Phoenix coach Dave Tippett also earned his 400th career victory with the win. Jordan Eberle and Ales Hemsky scored for the Oilers, who had a two-game winning streak snapped.

Shawn Horcoff also scored for the Oilers (4-2-2) who won their second straight. Cody Hodgson and Alexandre Burrows responded for the Canucks (4-4-1). Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo was pulled in the second period after allowing three goals on 14 shots. He was replaced by Cory Schneider who stopped all eight shots he faced.

Devan Dubnyk made 35 saves for his first shutout of the season and the Edmonton Oilers won their second game in a row, topping the Philadelphia Flyers 2-0 on Thursday. Jordan Eberle had a goal and an assist and Taylor Hall also scored for the Oilers (24-30-6), who have the second-worst record in the NHL. Edmonton broke the deadlock on a power play at 3:26 of the second. Hall was able to find an inch to squeeze the puck between the post and Ilya Bryzgalov's skate for his 22nd of the season and a 1-0 Oilers lead.

Orr hadn't scored in 65 games, Hollweg in 84. Hollweg hadn't even had a point in his last 53 games. Sean Avery, in his first home game since being acquired from Los Angeles, netted his first goal with New York, and Marcel Hossa and Jaromir Jagr also scored as the Rangers earned a much-needed victory.

Taylor Hall and Ryan Jones also scored and captain Shawn Horcoff had three assists for the Oilers, who are 2-1-1 after finishing last in the NHL for two straight seasons. Sergei Kostitsyn had the lone goal for the Predators (2-2-1), who have lost three in a row following two wins to open the season. Nashville recorded only 12 shots, and yielded 25 to Edmonton.

They knocked out San Jose before the Sharks could get the series back home. Michael Peca and Shawn Horcoff scored in front of a sellout crowd of pompom-waving fans last night, and Roloson made 24 saves in the biggest game of his career as the eighth-seeded Oilers beat the Sharks, 2-0, in Game 6 of the quarterfinal series.
