The owners of a Revere group home have been fined by US regulators for inadequate safety measures after a worker there was killed in January, allegedly by a resident with a violent criminal record and a history of mental illness. The $7,000 fine against the North Suffolk Mental Health Association was announced yesterday by the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The agency said the group home operator failed to a provide a safe work environment at the Revere facility the day Stephanie Moulton, 25, was stabbed to death while working there alone.

A Revere man will be arraigned Monday, accused of fatally stabbing an East Boston man Friday morning, authorities said. Christian Santa, 20, was arrested Saturday at about 10 p.m., Boston police said. He is charged with murder in the death of 50-year-old John Barrientos. Barrientos was found "suffering from multiple traumas including multiple stab wounds" near 220 Chelsea St. at about 6:55 a.m. Friday, police said in a statement. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Revere and Winthrop are considering sharing a public library director as one way to promote innovation and cut costs in their library services. The proposal, developed by Winthrop town manager James McKenna and former Revere mayor Thomas G. Ambrosino, is the subject of a memo of understanding the two placed before their respective library trustee boards. Revere's new mayor, Daniel Rizzo, supports the plan. Revere and Winthrop would equally split the cost of the director's salary, while Revere as the larger community would pick up the costs of benefits.

After a nearly five-hour standoff, police entered a Revere home where a suspected armed robber known as the Backstreet Bandit was staying and arrested him last night after finding the man hiding in the attic, police said. Rolando Gala, 29, of Boston was taken into custody after the standoff, said James Guido, the police incident commander on scene. More than 1,000 residents turned out at four public forums called by Mayor Daniel Rizzo to solicit community input on how Revere should spend the millions of dollars it anticipates receiving if Suffolk Downs is granted a casino license. An 82-year-old Revere man used a rifle to shoot and wound two people he believed were breaking into his Revere home early Wednesday morning, authorities said. Charles J. DiCino was arraigned Wednesday in Chelsea District Court, where he pleaded not guilty to possession of a firearm without having a firearms identification card, two counts of assault with intent to murder, and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to court records. He was released on personal recognizance.
