Defender Chad Marshall and midfielder Brad Evans also scored and Will Hesmer made two saves for his fifth shutout. Columbus equaled the 37 points it had in 30 matches last season. Schelotto had an assist and scored on a penalty kick in a 10-minute span for a 2-0 halftime lead. Conor Casey moved into a tie for the MLS goal-scoring lead with a penalty kick in the 58th minute, lifting the Colorado Rapids into a 1-1 tie with the New England Revolution last night in Commerce City, Colo. With Colorado (10-8-10) trailing, Casey tied it with his 16th goal after Omar Cummings was taken down in the scoring area. The Rapids star is tied with Dallas’s Jeff Cunningham for the league goal-scoring lead. Robbie Findley scored twice in the first half to boost Real Salt Lake to an easy 3-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids last night in Sandy, Utah. With Toronto’s loss to New York and D.C. United earning a draw against Kansas City, Salt Lake earned a playoff spot after Dallas lost late last night. The Revolution will secure a playoff spot with a victory tonight. Findley got Salt Lake on the board in the 15th minute when he headed a pass from Fabian Espindola inside the right post, threading the ball between Rapids goalkeeper Preston Burpo and the post.
