GRANVILLE — They are still managing to keep time at Noble & Cooley, a Civil War-era drum company in Western Massachusetts. After decades as one of the country’s biggest suppliers of toy drums, Noble & Cooley in the 1980s branched out to make state-of-the-art drum kits, with customers that included Phil Collins and Paul McCartney. But the bleak holiday shopping season that followed the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks nearly led to the company’s demise. As during other trying times in its history, Noble & Cooley somehow persevered, even as it got smaller.

Country music star Tim McGraw says his daughters love wearing his new headphones around the house. Just don't ask them to go past the front door. "It's tough to get them to go outside of the house," McGraw joked of his three daughters, ages 10, 13 and 14, who balk at being seen wearing the headphones, which prominently feature his signature. "I'm probably the most uncool person they know in their eyes. " His wife, Faith Hill, isn't embarrassed. "She wears them all the time, and was a big part of their design," McGraw says.

Paul McCartney says he is in talks to play a role in the London 2012 Olympic celebrations. The former Beatle says he "might be doing something" in the Olympics but is not sure what role he may play in the events. Speaking at a promotional event for his new album on Thursday, McCartney said he will go to a meeting about the Games on Friday where he expects to learn more about "something they want me to do. " McCartney also said he might be involved in another massive British celebration this year: Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee.

Former Beatle Paul McCartney will star in a musical tribute to Britain's queen to mark her Diamond Jubilee. The pop superstar will headline the concert to be held in front of Buckingham Palace. The concert will honor the monarch's 60 years on the throne. Event organizer Gary Barlow — the star of Take That — says the event will transcend multiple decades of music. Paul McCartney will be honored as MusiCares person of the year during Grammy week next year. The former Beatle will not only be honored for his music but also for his charitable side. WASHINGTON - Bert Weedon, a British guitarist whose popular "Play in a Day" instructional manual introduced a generation of rock stars to the power of the guitar, died April 20 at his home in Beaconsfield, England. He was 91. Friends confirmed his death to British news agencies but did not disclose the cause. Paul McCartney will debut the songs from his new album "Kisses on the Bottom" in a free live streaming performance on iTunes. The performance takes place at 10 p.m. EST Thursday from Capitol Studios in Los Angeles where much of the new album was recorded.
