Makes 16 triangles The two popular brands of kosher salt, Diamond Crystal and Morton’s, look similar but vary quite a bit by weight. Use 3/4 teaspoon Diamond Crystal or 1/2 teaspoon Morton’s. This shortbread bakes at a low temperature for either 1 hour (to make the traditional triangles that are barely colored around the edges) or 1 1/4 hours (to make triangles that are pale golden brown). WASHINGTON - In the 1980s, the military had its infamous $800 toilet seat. Today, it has a $17,000 drip pan. Thanks to a powerful Kentucky congressman who has steered tens of millions of federal dollars to his district, the Army has bought about $6.5 million worth of the "leakproof" drip pans in the last three years to catch transmission fluid on Black Hawk helicopters. And it might want more from the Kentucky company that makes the pans, even though a similar pan from another company costs a small fraction of the price: about $2,500.

Serves 4 Pan roasting cooks fish fast and keeps it moist and flavorful. First saute cherry tomatoes in olive oil, then push them to the sides of the pan and add the fish, a splash of wine, and a handful herbs. A little butter goes a long way to transform the pan juices into a luscious sauce as the fish finishes cooking in the oven. Here we used cod and tarragon, but swordfish, salmon, or any other meaty piece of fish will work well with whatever fresh herb you have on hand.
