Eddie Ababio scored in his professional debut to help the Colorado Rapids beat Isidro Metapan 3-1 on Wednesday night to keep their CONCACAF Champions league hopes alive. The Rapids leaped over Metapan into second place in Group B. Ababio took a quick pass from Ross LaBauex on the counterattack and dribbled 35 yards before lobbing it over Metapan goalkeeper Miguel Montes. After Alfred Pacheco tied the game, Quincy Amarikwa responded to give Colorado a 2-1 advantage. Omar Cummings sealed the victory with a goal in the 77th minute.

Brian Mullan and Omar Cummings scored in the second half to lead the Colorado Rapids to a 2-0 victory over the Columbus Crew on Friday night. Wells Thompson and Sanna Nyassi each had an assist for the Rapids (9-6-10), who have won four of six. Matt Pickens got the shutout. Thompson helped set up Mullan's first goal for Colorado in the 55th minute. Nyassi found Cummings in the 79th minute. Eastern Conference-leading Columbus (9-7-7) was 3-1-1 in its last five Major League Soccer games.

The Revolution ended a nine-game winless streak Wednesday with a 1-0 victory over D.C. United. Tonight they visit Colorado, where they have not beaten the Rapids in nine games since 2002. Stephen McCarthy's 73d-minute goal made the difference against D.C. United. But the Revolution had to survive a difficult first half, during which United's Charlie Davies missed a penalty kick. Juninho and Chad Barnett scored to lead the short-handed Los Angeles Galaxy to a 3-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday night. The Galaxy also got an own goal in the 25th minute. Juninho got his third goal of the year in the 42nd minute for the Galaxy. Barnett added a goal in the 80th minute. Los Angeles (9-2-7) didn’t have midfielder David Beckham, who was left home with back spasms. Captain Landon Donovan and goalie Donovan Ricketts are playing with their national teams.

Conor Casey tied the Colorado franchise record with his 39th goal and the Rapids ran their home unbeaten streak to nine, beating the Revolution, 3-0, in Commerce City, Colo. Casey has 10 goals this season for the Rapids, who are 10-7-7 overall and 6-0-3 at home since a 1-0 loss to Los Angeles on May 5. “It is nice to reach a milestone like that,’’ Casey said. “Nice to reach it in only my fourth year with the franchise.’’ Omar Cummings also scored his 10th goal, giving him five goals in his last four games.

The defending MLS Cup champions tied the record set by the Columbus Crew last year. Real Salt Lake (12-4-7) moved 1 point behind league leaders Los Angeles and Columbus.
