At Creighton, Doug McDermott is no longer overshadowed by another star. Before he showed up in Omaha last year, McDermott was the wingman for superstar Harrison Barnes at Ames High School in Iowa. McDermott is his own man nowadays — and the man to fans of 19th-ranked Creighton. Other than the Chicago Bulls' Kyle Korver, the Bluejays' sharpshooter from 1999-2003, McDermott is the most celebrated Creighton player athletic director Bruce Rasmussen can remember in his 32 years at the 6,000-student Jesuit school.

Antoine Young scored a season-high 21 points, Doug McDermott added 14 and No. 23 Creighton beat Northern Iowa 63-60 Tuesday night. Young made 9 of 14 shots, with his only 3-pointer giving the Bluejays a five-point lead with 2 minutes left. The Bluejays (14-2, 4-1 Missouri Valley Conference) held the Panthers (12-5, 2-3) without a field goal for 11 ½ minutes over the first and second halves but could never build a safe lead. UNI had a chance to tie it in the last minute after Josh Jones was called for over-and-back against the Panthers' press.

DOWS, Iowa - He has set himself apart from the rest of the Republican field as the candidate who believes the United States should shed its role as the world's policeman and focus instead on its internal economic problems. Representative Ron Paul of Texas says he would cut a trillion dollars out of the federal budget his first year as president, in part by ending all foreign wars and foreign aid, including to Israel. Many conservatives characterize Paul's foreign policy stance as extremist, isolationist, and anti-Israel, calling it a weakness that caps his...

Julie Wojta scored a career-high 26 points to lead No. 23 Wisconsin-Green Bay to a 75-67 win over Northern Iowa on Sunday. Wojta scored 16 of her points in the first half as Green Bay (7-0) bounced back from a sluggish start in which the Panthers jumped out to a 13-0 lead. After Northern Iowa's early outburst the Phoenix put on the defensive clamps, responding with an 18-3 run, to take their first lead at 18-16. They increased their advantage to 42-28 at the half on Megan Lukan's putback at the buzzer.
