Rudy Gay had 28 points and nine rebounds to help the Memphis Grizzlies withstand a weak start to the fourth quarter and beat the Minnesota Timberwolves for the eighth straight time, 91-84 on Tuesday night. J.J. Barea scored a season-high 28 points on 5-for-9 shooting from 3-point range to go with eight assists and five rebounds, but the Timberwolves lost their 11th straight — and their 27th consecutive game in April. They have three more tries this season to stop that streak.

George Karl was in a foul mood after his team squandered a 24-point lead and nearly the game against a Minnesota Timberwolves squad playing much of the contest without its star player. "Worst win of the year," the Denver Nuggets coach proclaimed. Hey, it sure beat the alternative. Ty Lawson scored 24 points, including four free throws in the final 17.6 seconds, to help the Nuggets hold on for a 113-107 win Wednesday night over the Timberwolves, who lost All-Star forward Kevin Love to a mild concussion in the first quarter.

Tyreke Evans had 24 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists and the Sacramento Kings topped the slumping Minnesota Timberwolves 116-108 on Monday night. The Kings opened the fourth quarter with an 11-0 run and never trailed the rest of the way. Sacramento entered the game having lost five of six. The Kings made their free throws in the closing minute to secure the victory and move to 14-12 at home this season. Kevin Love had 23 points and seven rebounds for the Timberwolves, who lost their third straight and fourth in five games.

Nicolas Batum added 24 points for Portland, which is 5-5 since interim coach Kaleb Canales replaced the fired Nate McMillan.
