"Regardless of the lack of implications in the standings, it's like anything that a competitive person does whether you're playing a ping pong game or anything else," Cammalleri said. "It's just you like to win and you like to win against your rivals. Niclas Bergfors and Sergei Kostitsyn scored to help the Predators improve to 3-3-1 and snap a four-game winless streak. Miikka Kiprusoff made 12 saves for Calgary, 2-4-1 in its first seven games.

Mike Cammalleri had a goal and two assists and the Calgary Flames used a four-goal second period for a 5-4 win over the Dallas Stars on Monday night. The Flames came into the game struggling offensively with six goals in their previous five games, but broke out with four goals over the final 11 minutes of the second period to overcome a 2-1 deficit. Tied 3-3, Calgary took its second lead of the second period when Mark Giordano's low slap shot eluded Dallas goaltender Kari Lehtonen for a power-play goal at 16:58.

Brian Elliott stopped 24 shots in his third shutout this season, David Backes added a goal and an assist and the St. Louis Blues beat the Calgary Flames 2-0 on Friday night. Alex Pietrangelo also scored for the Blues, who are 6-1-2 since Ken Hitchcock took over as coach. The Flames, who have been blanked three times in 21 games, got 22 stops from Miikka Kiprusoff. Backes gave the Blues a 1-0 lead with a short-handed goal, powering his way past Flames defenseman TJ Brodie and lifting a shot over Kiprusoff's glove 10:39 into the game.

The Lightning snapped a two-game losing streak to move a point ahead of Montreal for seventh place in the Eastern Conference with 72. Burke lost his shutout bid when Mike Ribeiro scored a power-play goal with 2:22 remaining. The five points were a season high for Ovechkin. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 28 shots and was perfect in the shootout for his 36th victory of the season. Jarome Iginla scored his team-leading 26th and 27th goals and the Calgary Flames earned a 5-4 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night. Iginla's second goal of the night with 1:18 left in the second period gave Calgary a 4-2 lead heading into the third period. Skating down the wing, the Flames' captain failed to get a shot away while being defended by Josh Gorges, but he carried the puck behind the Canadiens net and tucked the shot inside the near goal post before goaltender Carey Price could get across.

Butler made a nice toe-drag move against defenseman Mark Giordano, then snapped a shot over goalie Miikka Kiprusoff's glove to break a 1-1 tie in the third period. The 24-year-old forward added his second of the night at 16:12 to make it 3-1 after bursting down the right wing and firing a wrist shot inside the far goal post.
