Delta Connection and United Express customers at Logan International Airport will likely see little immediate impact from the bankruptcy filing of Pinnacle Airlines Corp., which operates the regional services for the major carriers in Boston. Delta Air Lines has a total of 2,044 monthly departures from Logan. Of those, 685 are operated by Delta Connection carriers, which include Pinnacle, ASA, Comair, and Chautauqua, with 167 flown by Pinnacle. Memphis-based Pinnacle has received $74 million in support from Delta Air Lines.

Frontier Airlines , which is headquartered in Denver, has decided to discontinue service to Logan International Airport on May 17. Currently Frontier has one flight to Kansas City, Mo., every day except Saturday. Besides Frontier, Delta Air Lines also offers service to Kansas City. Frontier has been seeking to cut costs and trim unprofitable routes as transitions into a low-cost airline and its parent company, Republic Airways Holdings Inc., prepares to sell or spin it off, according to Bloomberg News.

Two baggage handlers have been charged with stealing cash, tobacco, cameras, expensive electronics, and other items from checked luggage at Logan International Airport, State Police said yesterday. Lashawn Fontenot, 25, of Lynn and Joshua Wright, 25, of Mattapan were arrested Tuesday at the airport, State Police said. State Police said the items stolen were worth thousands of dollars. JetBlue Airways is launching seasonal service between Boston and Nantucket in May, the airline's 45th destination out of Logan International Airport. Flights will leave Boston at 4:50 p.m. from May 17 through Sept. 4. Passengers can book flights -- which will use full-size planes, according to JetBlue -- starting today. Prices are $98 roundtrip for travel between May 17 and June 13. Non-sale fares start at around $145 roundtrip.

There will be a lot of commotion and brilliant light on the water at the end of a Logan International Airport runway on Thursday evening, but don't worry, it's only a drill, airport officials said. The airport is conducting the drill to see how fast it can get portable lighting to an emergency area, in this case the water off of Runway 14, said Logan spokesman Phil Orlandella.
