If you have any doubt the New Jersey Devils are frustrating the New York Rangers in their Eastern Conference finals, just look at Game 4. Forget that Zach Parise scored two goals and set up another in the Devils' 4-1 win that evened the series at 2-all. Look at the extracurricular stuff in the game Monday night. Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur got sucker-punched by former teammate Mike Rupp, who might now be facing a suspension. New Jersey teammates Patrik Elias, Adam Henrique and Steve Bernier were the victims of cheap shots, and the Rangers spent most of the final 20 minutes...

Their season was at a crossroads. Searching for answers after netting a season-low 43 points in a humbling loss at Northeast-10 rival Merrimack on Feb. 4, the Stonehill men's basketball team exited the bus that evening and headed straight for the locker room at Merkert Gymnasium. "We said ‘Let's talk about this,' " recalled nine-year coach Dave McLaughlin. "We met for an hour, and we were honest with each other. There was a different tone. We were 12-7 at that point. " His Skyhawks are 11-1 since, including a satisfying and well-deserved 75-70 victory over...

Could Tom Brady 's poor play Sunday be the result of an injury? A source who watched TB12 leaving the locker room after throwing two picks and fumbling said the Pats QB looked a little worse for wear. When his boy Jack tried to jump on him, Brady's supermodel spouse, Gisele Bundchen , stepped in: "Daddy is hurt… . Here, I will carry you. " She then hoisted the little guy on her hip and carried him to the car.

Football at Gillette Stadium? Sort of. The NFL lockout is still in effect, but there was former Pats player Tedy Bruschi on the field in Foxborough yesterday as part of his annual youth football clinic sponsored by SBLI. The one-day clinic for 54 kids — get it? Bruschi’s number? — included time on and off the field with Tedy. The ex-linebacker did his best Bill Belichick impression during a game-planning session in the locker room, and the future football stars were even introduced over the PA as they ran onto the field.

There's a beautiful moment in the documentary "Undefeated," about Tennessee's Manassas High School football team, in which a player named Chavis Daniels demonstrates how much he's changed. Chavis, who's been nothing but trouble to his teammates and coaches, returns from a suspension and turns in a game-winning performance. A few days later in the locker room in front of the entire team, the head coach, Bill Courtney, names Chavis his "uncommon man," a regular honor whose prize appears to be a copy of the bestseller "Uncommon" by the former Colts coach and NBC commentator, Tony Dungy.

NORTH ANDOVER - Tom Walsh sat calmly in the fourth row at Lawler Arena on Monday night, watching his grandson, D.J. Walsh, and the rest of the Needham High hockey players scatter into the locker room after a disappointing opening period. The Rockets trailed St. John's High, 4-0, in the first Super 8 play-in game of the evening, a matchup that Needham needed to win to extinguish any doubt over its inclusion in the state's elite hockey tournament (the Rockets have gone 1-7-1 in Super 8 play since 2009)

Any sportswriter will tell you, the best stories come from the losers' locker room. Apparently, that's true of Davy Jones' locker room, too. Robin Knox-Johnston would seem the obvious subject for "Deep Water," a sometimes deeply unsettling English documentary about a sailing race that involved the nonstop solo circumnavigation of the globe. Not only was Knox-Johnston the winner, he was, in fact, the only one to finish among the nine men who set sail in 1968. Knox-Johnston, whom we see interviewed in both archival and contemporary footage, cuts a splendid figure: burly, bearded,...

By Scott Thurston, Globe Staff The hype of facing the ballyhooed Tim Tebow did not affect the Patriots' approach, according to defensive lineman Vince Wilfork. "We approached this game, just like any other," he said. "We've faced some decent quarterbacks this season. Tebow does some things that most quarterbacks don't do, but this is the National Football League. There's going to be a point in the game where you have to make sideline adjustments, which we did. We took advantage of the opportunities.
