Colleges Connecticut sophomore guard Jeremy Lamb announced Tuesday he has declared for the NBA draft. Lamb led the Huskies in scoring last season at 17.7 points per game, and was a key part of the team that won the NCAA championship in 2011. "It was a difficult decision, but after much prayer and discussion with my parents, I feel that it's in the best interest of me and my family to declare myself eligible for the upcoming NBA draft and pursue my dream of playing professional basketball," Lamb said in a statement released by UConn.

Serves 6 Buy a boneless leg of lamb and if it comes already tied, remove the strings so you can cut away the excess fat, stud the inside with garlic, and season it with salt and pepper. Let the lamb sit at room temperature for half an hour before you roast it. These cooking times are approximate; use an instant-read meat thermometer to test the internal temperature. If the lamb is done before you need it, cover it loosely with foil and let it rest in a warm place. 1 boneless leg of lamb (5 to 6 pounds)

Many families consider leg of lamb celebration food. It's the centerpiece on the Easter table and perhaps another time or two later in the season as part of a grilled feast. With such infrequent appearances, lamb can make the cook nervous. You want to get it right — garlic-scented, rosy meat with lots of juices — but you're not getting in a lot of practice the rest of the year. Timing is important, as is a meat thermometer (don't splurge on expensive meat and then start guessing if it's done, or worse yet, cut into it)

Serves 8 Vittorio Ambrogi and his wife, Kate Hammond, turn out Tuscan-influenced fare at the Grapevine in Salem. A native of Lucca, Italy, Ambrogi is a fan of anchovies and lamb (actually he likes anchovies and anything). He marinates the lamb overnight, then after roasting it, he likes to make a pan sauce using more anchovies, mustard, and splashes of white wine and chicken stock. 5 cloves garlic, finely chopped 1/4 cup olive oil 1 can (2 ounces)

Lamb of God made clear why it called its new album "Wrath" during a pummeling set Tuesday at the House of Blues. The band did not so much bask in its success as inflict its audio brutality on the willing masses. The underground metal troupe is in the enviable position of commanding big crowds while staying true to the rebellious spirit of its early, groundbreaking work. Lamb of God's combination of punk vitriol, guitar virtuosity, and charismatic performances has let the band pick up where Pantera left off. Metal needs its trailblazers to work alongside elder statesmen such as Slayer and Black Sabbath, and...

Often in sitcoms, women who don't like each other are thrown together by circumstance and spend the balance of the series angrily sniping at one another while "secretly" becoming best friends. This year's model: "2 Broke Girls. " Thus, it is a refreshing place to start with two female leads who are already bona fide buddies in the aptly titled "Best Friends Forever," premiering Wednesday evening at 8:30 on Channel 7. THIS WEEK, key underpinnings of the Western unconscious will reveal themselves in the observance of Passover and Good Friday — two rituals of sacrifice that have penetrated the American mind. Far from being an ancient irrelevance, the blood sacrifice that these occasions commemorate helps to define even secular culture — with profound consequences for how we, and our government, see the world. The sacrificial lamb is the central figure of Passover, for its blood, in marking the lintels of the Hebrews in Egypt, prompted the angel of death to pass them by. The God-willed deaths of...

One of my very favorite holidays is Easter, and every year I have a breakfast, brunch, or lunch at my house for lots of friends. I try to make each celebration a bit different from the year before. But there are some givens that must be included because guests look forward to them: butter molded into the shape of lambs or bunnies, chocolate rabbits, golden eggs (gold leafed), an Easter-egg hunt, a glazed smoked ham, kielbasa, and Easter-inspired vignettes all over my house. I am often asked where I find all the great Easter-y things I use to decorate the tables and...

Terrence Jones and Doron Lamb figured Kentucky's freshmen might have the jitters. Good thing the sophomores already have plenty of NCAA tournament experience to share. Jones had 22 points and 10 rebounds, Lamb scored 16 and top-seeded Kentucky began its quest for an eighth national title with an 81-66 victory over Western Kentucky on Thursday night. "For this to be the first NCAA game for us, freshmen are usually — well I know I was last year — just a little nervous about all the pressure put on us, and it wasn't even as much pressure last year as it is this year," Jones said.

Over the next two years, Lamb of God will be touring around the world in support of its new album, "Resolution. " Now in the uppermost echelon of metal bands, Lamb of God will undoubtedly be playing in arenas and at festivals moving forward. But Thursday, the band packed itself into the Paradise and reveled in that kinetic energy that metal bands and their fans generate when nobody else is really paying attention. Singer Randy Blythe used the occasion to celebrate the region's long support for his band, recounting the Virginia troupe's maiden trip to the New England Metalfest in...
