For reasons having nothing to do with the players' athletic abilities, the Harvard baseball team was on NBC's "Today" show Thursday. So why was a ball club that finished the season with a lackluster 7-8 record invited to hang with Al Roker ? Because they're a YouTube sensation. A few weeks ago, the guys shot a silly video of themselves lip-synching to the Carly Rae Jepsen hit "Call Me Maybe," and the vid's gone viral. Since being posted May 6, the cleverly choreographed clip has been viewed over 7 million times.

Britain's judiciary says that a 21-year-old sentenced last week for hacking into a U.S.-based Facebook account accessed the page belonging to teen actress Selena Gomez, who is the girlfriend of pop idol Justin Bieber. Gareth Crosskey was jailed for 12 months Wednesday after pleading guilty to crimes under Britain's Computer Misuse Act. His victim wasn't identified at the time, but The Sun newspaper named her as Gomez. The tabloid said Crosskey posted the words "Justin Bieber sucks" to her Facebook page, prompting a torrent of abuse from the singer's fans.

The holiday album is a time-honored stopgap in a musician's career and "Under the Mistletoe" serves up a mix of new and original seasonal tracks that sound exactly as you'd expect. In other words, the Canadian heartthrob's legion of Beliebers will be thrilled, and everyone else can stick to the Christmas music they already enjoy. Lead single "Mistletoe" is a jaunty acoustic stroll that sounds like Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" retooled with a winter wonderland backing track. Elsewhere, Biebs delivers lite pop-soul jams like "Only Thing I Ever Get for Christmas," "Christmas Eve," and "Fa La La," and does a cherubically soporific...

Pop Justin Bieber My World Island ESSENTIAL “Down to Earth’’ Armed with Zac Efron’s hair, Natasha Bedingfield’s voice, and Usher’s imprimatur, Justin Bieber arrives riding a wave of industry hype touting him as the genuine article, a preternaturally gifted and self-assured 15-year-old star in waiting. That’s hardly borne out on “My World,’’ where Bieber is indistinguishable from any of a thousand prefab pop aspirants with musical inadequacies that need glossing over in the studio.

It could have been worse, I suppose. They could have chosen a werewolf or a vampire or Gerard Butler. But People magazine has named Bradley Cooper its sexiest man alive, so they chose someone who, in the movies, seems likely to buy you Manhattans until you submit, and then he won't call the next day. But according to the cover story , I have no idea what I'm talking about. Cooper speaks French and went to Georgetown. He's smart and loves his mother. It's we who want to seduce him. Actually, I think what I'm wondering is more like: Isn't this a little premature?

A spokesman for Justin Bieber said yesterday that the 17-year-old pop star will take a paternity test when he returns to the country, and then plans to sue the woman who filed a paternity suit against him last week in San Diego Superior Court. For about half a song, “Never Say Never’’ — the new, extremely watchable, nominal documentary about dancing singer Justin Bieber — celebrates the 16-year-old’s strange, wraparound haircut. Bieber stands in front of the movie’s 3D camera and swings his bangs in slow motion, while a robust, romantic epiphany of Etta James’s “At Last’’ plays around him. The choice is a show of sweet, classy restraint since the more obviously appropriate song is the one Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith’s daughter, Willow, had a massive hit with in the spring: “Whip My...

A few days ago, someone sent us a YouTube clip of Justin Bieber singing "Happy Birthday" with musical accompaniment by the great Ran Blake. We were skeptical. Did the teeny bopper really collaborate with the cutting-edge pianist, composer, and New England Conservatory professor? Of course he didn't. Turns out the clip was created by Alex Heitlinger, one of Blake's former students, who had an MP3 of Blake playing "Happy Birthday. " "It's an awesome version and I thought it'd be funny to splice it with someone who is unlikely to play with Ran," said Heitlinger, who's...

Bieber fever raged from the west end of London to the east Monday, as teen star Justin Bieber switched on the Christmas lights at the city's two biggest shopping malls. Thousands of young and mostly female fans waited hours for the 17-year-old singer to appear, first at the Westfield shopping center in west London, then hours later at the new Westfield Stratford City mall near the 2012 Olympic Park in the east. Bieber traveled the 12 miles (18 kilometers) between the malls by helicopter.

Saturday Night Live Saturday 11:30 p.m., Channel 7 Rolling Stones fans who were hoping that Mick Jagger's bandmates would be joining him on the finale of the sketch comedy show tomorrow night won't derive much satisfaction from the news that it isn't to be. Since this year marks the Stones' 50th anniversary and there is talk of a tour, fans thought the band might bumrush Jagger's "SNL" appearance to play and announce tour dates. Alas, Keith Richards recently told Entertainment Weekly that Jagger will be gathering moss, solo-style.

It's not as if unfilmable books haven't been filmed before. John Huston made "The Bible," in 1966. "Moneyball" — cinematic sabermetrics! — came out last year. But "What to Expect When You're Expecting"? Yes, there's now a movie version of everyone's favorite pregnancy guide. That would seem to be taking unfilmability to previously unimagined heights (or depths). Or maybe not. If the movie's a hit, who knows what literary properties of the reference or advice sort might find themselves major motion pictures.

Celebrity QB Tom Brady was decked out in Under Armour gear in Los Angeles on Friday while reportedly filming another video for the popular humor website Funny or Die. Brady has already mocked himself on FunnyOrDie.com; in 2010, he appeared in a video about his hair with his famously coiffed pal Justin Bieber. No word on the theme of Brady's new video, but we hope he keeps this new 'do. It's working for him.

" By that point, the sold-out show already suggested that the sinewy 30-year-old didn't really mean it. From the trio's augmentation to a sextet for the tour, to the super-size electronic "FUN. " sign casting warm colors into the swaying crowd, to Ruess's clarion and enveloping vocals, these veteran musicians came fully prepared to master the 2,400-capacity venue for every...

Justin Bieber has denied allegations he fathered a child in a backstage bathroom and says he has never met the woman who filed the paternity suit against him. "To set the record straight, none of it is true," the 17-year-old teen heartthrob declared Friday during a brief appearance on NBC's "Today" show. As mobs of fans screamed adoringly in Rockefeller Plaza, Bieber called it "crazy" that anyone would make up such a story. "I know I'm going to be a target, but I'm never going to be a victim," Bieber told "Today" host Matt Lauer.
