New York scored twice off Sean Marshall in the ninth, but Baker pulled his regular closer in favor of Arredondo and he got the job done. "I could have done without the drama, but we did win the game," Baker said.

Joey Votto hit a grand slam in the ninth inning for his third home run of the game, rallying the Reds to a rain-delayed 9-6 victory over the Washington Nationals on Sunday in Cincinnati. Votto hit solo homers in his first two at-bats and finished a big day with his second career slam with two outs in the ninth. Washington came into the game with only 15 homers allowed all season, fewest in the majors. Votto broke out of his power drought and helped the Reds avoid a sweep.

Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw cruised through four innings in his second spring outing to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 9-1 win Wednesday night over a Cincinnati Reds split squad filled mostly with regulars. Kershaw gave up a solid single to minor leaguer Henry Rodriguez and a pair of walks in four innings. He struck out six. A.J. Ellis and Adam Kennedy homered off Homer Bailey, who is up against Aroldis Chapman for the fifth spot in the Reds' starting rotation. Bailey surrendered six runs on six hits and three walks.
