Round-trip airfare between Boston and Philadelphia is doubling as Southwest Airlines discontinues the route this week and once again leaves US Airways as the only carrier flying nonstop between the two cities The lowest regular round-trip nonstop fare will jump to $520 from about $260, according to airline websites. Southwest will discontinue the Boston to Philadelphia route as of Saturday. Southwest has dropped five routes out of Philadelphia this year, including Manchester, Providence, Pittsburgh, and Jacksonville.

JetBlue Airways and Japan Airlines are planning to enhance their interline agreement to a one-way codeshare, starting with Japan Airlines' new Boston-Tokyo flight, launching April 22. The change means a flight booked on Japan Airlines from Tokyo to Buffalo, for instance, would use Japan Airlines flight codes for both legs of the trip, even though the second flight from Boston to Buffalo would be operated by JetBlue. The codeshare still must be approved by the Department of Transportation.

JetBlue Airways - the official airline of the Boston Red Sox - unveiled the latest addition to its fleet today, a custom Red Sox-themed plane that will fly out of Logan Airport. "There is a lot of excitement around the Red Sox camp as they prepare for what will surely be another great year in baseball. As Southwest takes over AirTran, United and Continental merge, JetBlue expands in Boston, and American shrinks operations here, Logan International Airport is embarking on a massive juggling act. Airlines will shift into new terminals and gates. Terminal directories will be updated. Passenger waiting areas will be remodeled. It's the type of upheaval that airports around the country have been facing in recent years as airlines consolidate and reposition flights to shore up profits.

Starting next year, JetBlue Airways will offer nonstop service between Martha’s Vineyard and New York City from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. A 100-seat plane will make the daily flight — the only full-size jet service to the Vineyard, the airline said. In conjunction with Cape Air, JetBlue currently offers year-round Boston-Martha’s Vineyard service and seasonal Boston-Nantucket flights. Schedule and fare information for the new Vineyard service should be available next month.

Spring training has not started, but JetBlue Airways is taking the Red Sox to the skies with a custom Red Sox-branded Airbus A320 at Logan International Airport in Boston. The aircraft, inspired by the team's uniform, features blue wing tips and a gray tail that depicts the team's dangling red socks. The plane, which enters service today with a flight to Fort Myers, Fla. - where the team trains - also sports a banner commemorating Fenway Park's 100th anniversary. A photo of the plane, the first to sport a Major League Baseball uniform, was not available yesterday.
