LOS ANGELES - Michael Jackson’s family moved quickly yesterday to take control of his complicated personal and financial affairs, winning temporary custody of his three children and asking a judge to name his mother as administrator of his estate. In documents filed in Superior Court, Jackson’s parents said they believe their 50-year-old son died without a valid will. They also made it clear they believe they should take charge of both his debt-ridden but potentially lucrative financial empire and act as permanent caretakers of his three children.

Christina Aguilera is lending her voice to a Michael Jackson tribute concert planned for October in Wales. Organizers of "Michael Forever — The Tribute Concert" announced Thursday that Aguilera would be joined by members of the Jackson family, Cee Lo Green, Leona Lewis and the band Alien Ant Farm, which is known for its cover of Jackson's song "Smooth Criminal. " The announcement came after more than two weeks of silence about performers for the Oct. 8 show at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

LOS ANGELES - Michael Jackson still had a faint pulse and his body was warm when his doctor found him in bed and not breathing, a lawyer for the doctor said yesterday. The lawyer, Edward Chernoff, also said that Dr. Conrad Murray never prescribed or gave Jackson the drugs Demerol or OxyContin. He denied reports suggesting that Murray gave Jackson drugs that contributed to his death. Chernoff told the Associated Press that Murray was at the pop icon’s rented mansion on Thursday afternoon when he discovered Jackson in bed and not breathing.

HOUSTON - Authorities searched the Houston clinic of Michael Jackson’s doctor yesterday and his attorney said they were seeking evidence of manslaughter. Dr. Conrad Murray had been interviewed by police as a witness to the pop star’s death, but has not been considered a suspect. Police have said little about the investigation, neither confirming or denying the possibility of criminal charges.
