On the day Washington Redskins quarterback John Beck turned 30, he was praised by coach Mike Shanahan for his play against the Indianapolis Colts. What he didn't get was the starting job. Shanahan said Sunday that he hasn't decided if Beck or Rex Grossman will start against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday. The coach was pleased with the decision-making by Beck, who was sacked three times by the Colts on Friday in a 16-3 win. Beck completed 14 of 17 passes for 140 yards.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Peyton Manning threw for three more touchdowns yesterday, Edgerrin James ran for two others, and the Indianapolis Colts returned a blocked field goal for another score in a 51-24 rout of Tennessee. INDIANAPOLIS - Peter Horch and Jim Gamage had been having a pretty typical experience for Patriots fans at the Super Bowl. They had been in a bar, and the bartender had been very nice, dripping in this city's famed Hoosier hospitality. "We kept saying, ‘That would never happen in Boston,' " Gamage said. Then the talk turned to football, and the bartender's tone immediately changed. "She said, ‘I hate the Patriots,' " Horch said. "But she was nice about it. " "It was a nice hate," Gamage added.

FOXBOROUGH -- They punched them in the mouth and when they got up they punched them in the mouth again until they didn't want to get hit any more. That's how the New England Patriots pulled off arguably the second-greatest victory in what has become one of the great stretches in pro football history. It was not poetry in motion last night at Razor Blade Field. It was not about lyric little bandboxes or odes to summertime. This was rap music and a kick in the teeth. The Patriots punished the Indianapolis Colts' defense until it couldn't take it anymore, hitting it...
