Officials are puzzled over a mysterious hot tub that was installed — and then removed — from the roof of a building on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor. But a group of "creative" students are believed to be the culprits, Computer Science and Engineering building spokesman Steven Crang told ( http://bit.ly/x5jEya) AnnArbor.com on Friday. Initially reported by the Michigan Daily campus newspaper, the hot tub first was noticed Saturday, had visitors and was gone by Monday night.

Chris Harrison has seen a lot of roses. As host of ABC's "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette," the 40-year-old has a front-row seat as an eligible man or woman looking for "the one" is wooed by 25 suitors (often with the help of alcohol, over-the-top dates, a hot tub or occasional sleepover). In a recent interview, Harrison said his favorite romances in the 16-season history of "The Bachelor" and eight seasons of "The Bachelorette" are Trista and Ryan Sutter and Emily Maynard and Brad Womack.

I have an issue regarding a new hot tub I bought in September. I have had multiple issues that have resulted in multiple warranty service calls. The dealer has been responsive, however, no response alleviates the frustration of owning something that doesn't work the way it is supposed to. The hot tub's stereo feature stopped working and after waiting four weeks for replacement parts it was repaired. The dealer charged me a $49 travel fee to come and make the warranty repairs. Apparently, the manufacturer does not reimburse the dealer after a certain number of days for...

DETROIT — Ballpoint pen-chewers, take note: The cap in your mouth can obstruct breathing if swallowed. Common sense? Apparently for speakers of French, Spanish, and German. The warning appears only in the English section of the multilingual instructions from the pen manufacturer, according to the creator of the Wacky Warning Labels contest. The pen-cap caveat is among five finalists announced yesterday in the 14th annual contest that calls out silly warning labels and rails against lawsuits it deems frivolous.

"Rock Star: INXS" is "American Idol" with leather pants and a hot tub. It's yet another TV talent contest where we sit in judgment of nervous young performers. And it's also a roommate reality show set in a mansion that puts the "Real World" spreads to shame. In the course of the CBS series, which premieres tonight at 9 on Channel 4, our 15 reelin' and rockin' wannabes will probably do a lot of sweating, both onstage and in bubbling hot water. Now that ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" is over, CBS is hoping this series will become the new reality addiction.

This is the story of a Boston icon, the Mugar Omni Theater. This is also the story of a family, the Rivers clan of Sharon. Both just turned 25. And both began, you might say, when a woman named Mary Jane Dodge stepped into a hot tub in Florida in the mid-1980s. Dodge was one of the early pioneers of a new type of large-format film called IMAX, and she was in Florida to watch the filming of a space shuttle launch. That night, she went for a dip in the hotel hot tub and found a surprise hidden among the bubbles.

NORTH ADAMS -- We traveled to The Porches Inn with every intention of dropping our bags and running off to look at art. After all, the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art is directly across the street and the museums in Williamstown but a skip and short drive away. Instead, our lofty cultural intentions were sidetracked by the amenities at the inn. "Which water activity should we try first?" we wondered. Outside, there was the heated pool with adjacent bubbling hot tub, and in our bathroom, a beckoning claw-foot tub and a monster-sized, glass-enclosed, walk-in shower...

It was a proud parent moment when my daughter said,"I am becoming my mother. I live by my To Do List now. Winter weekends and holidays, everyone in the family knows we are going skiing. My lists go beyond just ski dates on a calendar however, I have skier checklists (OK, I'm OCD)

WESTERLY, R.I. -- The Villa looks nothing like any New England inn we've stayed in -- and that's just the way innkeeper Barbara Cardiff likes it. Transplants from California, Barbara and her husband, Michael, wanted to create a laid-back, West Coast feeling at their inn -- "nothing stodgy," she declares. The theme is Mediterranean with a strong Italian influence. The main house is white stucco with a breeze-catching portico along one side. The carriage house, with two luxury suites, features original fieldstone walls on the ground floor.

In 2006, developer and interior designer Carol Berc hit the real estate jackpot when she acquired three row houses on Newbury Street in the Back Bay. Almost immediately, Berc launched a renovation of the three late-19th-century buildings, converting them into seven residential condominiums and four commercial spaces. She also added a top floor to the three buildings, turning them into a penthouse condo for herself. One of the penthouse’s most appealing aspects is its 800-square-foot roof deck.
