MILWAUKEE -- A Roman Catholic school is canceling a fashion show by the manufacturer of American Girl dolls and books amid conservative groups' criticism of a girls organization that receives support from the company. In order to fully enjoy "The Fashion Show" - and there is plenty to enjoy in Bravo's new reality contest - you have to resist the urge to keep comparing it to "Project Runway. " To excise all memory of Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum from your brain. To forget you ever heard the words "auf Wiedersehen. " Except that we all know that's impossible. In all likelihood, "The Fashion Show" wouldn't exist if "Project Runway" hadn't decamped from Bravo to Lifetime - its sixth season premieres on the women's channel in August - and from New York to Los Angeles.

The new Revere Hotel Boston Common is putting on a high-flying fashion show Wednesday, celebrating its official opening with models descending down the façade of the 24-story hotel decked out in designer outfits.   The Revere, a $27 million reinvention of the Radisson formerly located on the Stuart Street site, is sending climbers from Boston Rock Gym down the west side of the building at 5:40 p.m. wearing hotel uniforms designed by Massachusetts College of Art and Design students and spring and summer looks from Ted Baker London.

The new Revere Hotel Boston Common, which is in the building that used to be the Radisson, opened Wednesday night with a spectacle - namely a "vertical fashion show" that had climbers from Boston Rock Gym rappelling down the side of the building in stylish gear by Ted Baker and MassArt students, who were commissioned earlier this year to design uniforms for the hotel staff. The Revere gave binoculars to spectators down below to make it easier to see the models who were closer to the 24th floor.
