Dominic Moore scored the shootout winner to lift the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 4-3 win over the Panthers last night in Sunrise, Fla. Ryan Malone, Steven Stamkos, and Teddy Purcell also scored for the Lightning. Dwayne Roloson stopped all 29 shots he faced after coming in to relieve Mathieu Garon. Brian Campbell, Tomas Kopecky, and Mike Santorelli scored goals for the Panthers, who squandered a 3-0 lead and suffered their third straight shootout loss. Flames 2, Avalanche 1 - Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 32 shots and Mark Giordano and Curtis Glencross each had a goal as Calgary beat Colorado in Denver.

Here's how well things are going for the Anaheim Ducks this season: They bring up journeyman Shawn Thornton from the minors, and he scores 57 seconds into his first game back in the NHL. Thornton netted his first goal since the 2003-04 season, Teemu Selanne added his team-high 16th goal and an assist in the third period, and league-leading Anaheim beat the Capitals, 6-1, last night at Washington for its seventh victory in eight games. Thornton was brought up from Portland of the AHL for the second time this season.
