Conor Casey scored in the 25th minute as the Colorado Rapids ended a four-game winless streak with a 2-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday night. Casey got his sixth goal in his last seven games, and Colorado (6-5-9) also had a score from Scott Palguta for the Rapids’ first multigoal game since May 25 at New York. The Rapids, 1-2-2 over their last five games, are 3-2-5 at home. Camilo scored the sixth of the year for Vancouver (2-10-8), losers of four consecutive games.

Goalkeeper Tally Hall stopped seven shots for Houston in the Dynamo’s 0-0 tie with the Colorado Rapids on Sunday night. He made two big saves in the final 10 minutes to preserve the tie and get his third shutout of the season. “These are the games a goalkeeper looks forward to playing,’’ Hall said. “Every shot can mean the difference between winning or costing your team the game.’’ Hall leaped to tip Drew Moor’s shot over the crossbar in the 80th minute.

Juninho and Chad Barnett scored to lead the short-handed Los Angeles Galaxy to a 3-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday night. The Galaxy also got an own goal in the 25th minute. Juninho got his third goal of the year in the 42nd minute for the Galaxy. Barnett added a goal in the 80th minute. Los Angeles (9-2-7) didn’t have midfielder David Beckham, who was left home with back spasms. Captain Landon Donovan and goalie Donovan Ricketts are playing with their national teams.

Ryan Smith scored in the 75th minute to give Sporting Kansas City a 1-1 tie with the Colorado Rapids on Saturday night. Sporting Kansas City (1-6-2) snapped a five-game MLS losing streak. The team is playing its first 10 games on the road while its new stadium is completed. Conor Casey scored for Colorado (4-3-6) in the 13th minute. The Rapids have tied their last five games, and have a seven-game unbeaten streak. A crowd of 16,439 attended the game.

TORONTO — FC Dallas defender George John deflected a shot into his own net in overtime and the Colorado Rapids beat FC Dallas, 2-1, last night to win their first MLS Cup. League MVP David Ferreira scored for Dallas in the first half before Colorado’s Conor Casey tied it in the second. In the second half of overtime, Colorado substitute Macoumba Kandji took a long pass from Casey inside the box and stabbed the ball across the face of the Dallas goal. His shot spun off John’s left thigh and over the head of goalie Kevin Hartman.

Toronto FC extended its franchise-record unbeaten streak to 11 games yesterday, beating the visiting Colorado Rapids, 1-0, on Fuad Ibrahim’s goal in the 61st minute. Toronto has not lost a game in all competitions since May 1, a run that includes a title win in the Nutrilite Canadian Championship. Toronto also has an eight-game unbeaten streak in MLS and has not lost any of its eight games at BMO Field, where 21,836 fans took in yesterday’s game under sunny skies.
