Goalkeeper Tally Hall stopped seven shots for Houston in the Dynamo’s 0-0 tie with the Colorado Rapids on Sunday night. He made two big saves in the final 10 minutes to preserve the tie and get his third shutout of the season. “These are the games a goalkeeper looks forward to playing,’’ Hall said. “Every shot can mean the difference between winning or costing your team the game.’’ Hall leaped to tip Drew Moor’s shot over the crossbar in the 80th minute.

Sanna Nyassi scored two of his three goals in the first half to lead the Colorado Rapids to a 4-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday night. It was Nyassi's first three goals of the year and only the seventh time a Rapids player had scored three times in a game. Wells Thompson added a goal for Colorado (7-6-9). The Rapids needed a scoring lift as leading scorer Conor Casey earlier in the day had surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon. Casey, the last Rapids to have a three-goal game, is expected to be sidelined for at least eight months.

Beckham and the Galaxy needed a goal in extra time to tie the New York Red Bulls, 2-2, last night in East Rutherford, N.J., before 46,754 fans, the largest crowd for a Major League Soccer game this season. "We had some people here cheering for me and cheering for the Galaxy," Beckham said. "There were some boos out there as well. It's almost like playing in Europe.

TORONTO — FC Dallas defender George John deflected a shot into his own net in overtime and the Colorado Rapids beat FC Dallas, 2-1, last night to win their first MLS Cup. League MVP David Ferreira scored for Dallas in the first half before Colorado’s Conor Casey tied it in the second. In the second half of overtime, Colorado substitute Macoumba Kandji took a long pass from Casey inside the box and stabbed the ball across the face of the Dallas goal. His shot spun off John’s left thigh and over the head of goalie Kevin Hartman.
