Spectacular as it seemed, it was nothing we haven't seen from LeBron James before. Maybe that's the funny thing about all the hoopla over James' performance in Game 4 of the Pacers-Heat series. Because for once, it wasn't just his talent that deserved the spotlight, but his maturity. The question, after all, was never how good James was; he answered that long before his fateful decision to trade Cleveland for Miami turned James into the superstar everybody loves to hate. He won a scoring championship, back-to-back MVP awards and single-handedly dragged the Cavs into the playoffs each...

Jason Kipnis left his flesh and blood on home plate as he scored the go-ahead run against the Tigers. The Cleveland Indians, with Kipnis diving across the dirt to score on a throwing error by Detroit first baseman Prince Fielder in the eighth inning, scraped out a 4-2 win Wednesday night. Kipnis had three hits, rubbed his right arm raw as he broke a 2-2 tie, and said the Indians couldn't help but feel the emotion of a second straight win over the defending AL Central champions to guarantee winning the three-game series.

LeBron James finally talked about not making the NBA Finals, and insists Cleveland's loss to Orlando will not impact his future with the Cavaliers. James stormed out of Amway Arena without speaking to the media Saturday night after the host Magic eliminated the Cavaliers, 103-90, in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals. The league MVP, who also did not shake hands with Olympic teammate Dwight Howard or congratulate any Orlando players as he left the floor, said yesterday that he's happy in Cleveland and feels the Cavaliers made major progress this season.

Chris Perez wants to stay in Cleveland, even if he is at odds with some Indians fans. "I'm unhappy, but don't want out," the All-Star closer said Tuesday before the start of a three-game series against Detroit. After several days of chastising local fans for not attending games, Perez said he is not looking to play anywhere else, emphasizing that he believes the Indians are in playoff contention. "There's a saying in baseball: If you don't like it play better," he said.

CLEVELAND - Five men described by federal authorities as anarchists angry with corporate America and the government were charged Tuesday with plotting to bomb an Ohio bridge linking two Cleveland suburbs. The men were arrested Monday night after unknowingly working with an FBI informant for months, a strategy that federal investigators have used repeatedly in recent years to catch alleged terrorists. "They talked about making a statement against corporate America and the government as some of the motivations for their actions," said US Attorney Steven Dettelbach, announcing...

The Cleveland Indians and Toronto Blue Jays are playing the longest opening-day game in baseball history. Heading into the 16th inning, the teams have eclipsed the previous longest games set on two occasions. Toronto, however, got a three-run homer from J.P. Arencibia in the top of the 16th to take the lead. The Indians played in one of the previous marathons, a 15-inning game on April 19, 1960, against Detroit that the Tigers won 4-2. Also, on April 13, 1926, the Philadelphia Athletics and Washington Senators played 15 innings.

CLEVELAND - A 10-year-old girl who was critically injured in April in a restaurant shooting by her father, an attack that killed her sister and her mother, has died, family members said. Kayla Allen was hospitalized for about a month after the April 12 shooting during a birthday dinner at a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Brooklyn, a Cleveland suburb, but she took a turn for the worse and was sent home Friday to receive hospice care. Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland released a family statement Tuesday saying Kayla died peacefully at home.

The Cleveland Indians couldn't have asked for a much better performance from starting pitcher Zach McAllister. Recalled from Triple-A Columbus earlier in the day, McAllister's career-high eight strikeouts weren't enough to compensate for one of Cleveland's worst offensive games of the year. The Indians finished with just three hits, tying a season low in a 4-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night. "I think I'd rather have less strikeouts with a 'W,"' McAllister said.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Paul Pierce scored 20 points, Ray Allen had 12 in the third quarter and the Boston Celtics avenged a disappointing loss to Cleveland two days ago by barely holding off the Cavaliers 93-90 on Tuesday night. The Celtics, who blew an 11-point lead at home Sunday in the final four minutes and lost by one, led by 22 late in the third quarter. However, the Cavs rallied again behind rookie Kyrie Irving and got within two on his twisting layup with 1:18 left. But Kevin Garnett dropped in a short jumper that bounced high off the rim and Pierce made two free throws with 2.6 seconds...

Justin Masterson was unbeatable last April. This year, the Cleveland right-hander is still winless in the month. Masterson labored his way through a third consecutive start, matching his career-high of six walks while allowing four runs over five innings in the Indians' 5-1 loss to the Oakland Athletics on Sunday. That's 10 walks in the last 8 2-3 innings for Cleveland's opening-day starter, a trend Masterson doesn't seem too concerned with despite the results. "We're not trying to pick the corners but we seem to be just right there, just missing," Masterson said.
