Kobe Bryant reverted to an old habit when he missed a potential game-winning shot. Given a second opportunity, he stuck with the change he’s made since breaking his right index finger. Bryant hit a 15-footer as time expired and scored the game’s final 7 points over the last 1:18 of overtime to lift the Los Angeles Lakers to a 107-106 victory over the Bucks in Milwaukee last night. Bryant, who had 27 of his 39 points in the second half and overtime, missed a shot from nearly the same spot from the left elbow that would’ve won it at the buzzer to end regulation.

Kevin Garnett is still thinking - and talking - defense first. But Garnett’s offensive production has been extraordinary lately, and it has coincided with the Celtics’ eight-game winning streak. The combination of Garnett’s two-way play, plus a strong fourth quarter by Rajon Rondo, led the way as Boston earned a 98-89 win over the Milwaukee Bucks last night at TD Garden. Garnett scored 25 points on 9-for-13 shooting, and is now 50 for 65 (.778) from the field in his last six games.

By the way, it’s official. You know you have a very good team when you’re 17-4 and are sitting on an eight-game winning streak and all anyone can talk about...

OAK BROOK, Ill. -- McDonald's Corp. yesterday reported another month of strong worldwide sales, sending its stock up modestly to its highest closing price in 2 years. The world's largest restaurant company said sales from restaurants open more than a year rose 6.1 percent worldwide and 7.5 percent in the United States, where its Best Chance Monopoly game boosted results for a second straight October. The monthly gains were less spectacular than the ones reported a year ago, when McDonald's had easy comparisons against a down year in 2002.
