Local Democrats will be taking part in a caucus on Feb. 18 to elect delegates and alternates to this year's Massachusetts Democratic State Convention. The caucus, organized by the Woburn Democratic City Committee, will be held at 11 a.m. at the senior center, 144 School St. Anyone age 18 and over from Woburn who was registered as a Democrat as of Dec. 31, 2011, can participate. ACKLEY, Iowa - Inside the Carson family home, a white farmhouse surrounded by corn and soy bean fields and accessible only by gravel road, adherence to the teachings of the Lord Jesus is paramount. Massachusetts Democrats are planning to hold caucuses across the state to elect delegates to attend the Democratic National Convention. The caucuses will be held in nine cities and towns. The Franklin Democratic Town Committee will hold a caucus Feb. 18 at 9 a.m. in the Alumni Restaurant and Bar on East Central Street. The caucus will elect 13 delegates and three alternates to the state party's annual convention, to be held June 2 in Springfield. The Democratic Town Committee normally meets the second Monday of each month in the third-floor training room in the Municipal Building; its next meeting is set for Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. All residents who are registered to vote as Democrats are eligible to take part.

EAST MACHIAS, Maine (AP) — Ron Paul has gained 83 votes on Mitt Romney following a Republican presidential caucus in eastern Maine, where voting last week had been postponed due to bad weather. Romney still holds a 156-vote lead over Paul in statewide totals. Paul received 163 votes in Saturday's Washington County caucus, where Republicans from more than two dozen towns gathered to cast their votes. Romney received 80 votes. Rick Santorum got 57 votes and Newt Gingrich received four votes.

The Republican Town Committee will hold its reorganization meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the central fire station on High Street. The reorganization follows the March 6 election of committee members. It will include electing a committee chairman, a secretary, and a treasurer, all to serve for four years. While only committee members can vote, the meeting is open to any registered Republican or any unenrolled voter interested in registering as a Republican, including residents who would like to join the committee.

(AP) — Rick Santorum was mining suburban St. Louis for last minute support Saturday, as Missouri Republicans began gathering in local caucuses that will help determine who gets the state's 52 presidential delegates that are up for grabs. Santorum won the state's nonbinding primary last month and was the only one of the four Republican presidential candidates visiting caucus sites Saturday. Former Massachusetts Gov. WASHINGTON — Mitt Romney has won the Republican presidential caucuses in Hawaii, salvaging a much needed victory after resurgent rival Rick Santorum won primaries in Alabama and Mississippi on Tuesday. Romney finished a disappointing third behind Santorum and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich in the Deep South primaries. But he came back to edge out both rivals in Hawaii and added a sweep of delegates from Republican nominating caucuses in American Samoa. Texas Rep. Ron Paul finished fourth in both Southern primaries, and third in the Hawaii caucuses.

PAGO PAGO, American Samoa — Mitt Romney won the Republican caucus in American Samoa, picking up all nine delegates. About 70 Republicans in the U.S. territory located 2,300 miles south of Hawaii met in caucus Tuesday. The six delegates selected at the meeting and three superdelegates to the Republican National Convention all said they would support Romney. Falemao M. Pili, vice chairman of the local GOP and a delegate, says he believes Romney can fix the U.S. economy that extends to American Samoa.

About 140 residents turned out for the Town Caucus last week to nominate candidates for positions on the May 8 election ballot, according to the town clerk's office. The candidates will include Peter Caruso, who is running for the Board of Selectmen, and Susan Hanlon and Greg Garland, who are running for two seats on the School Committee. Others wishing to run for office must obtain nomination papers from the town clerk's office by Friday, and return them with the signatures of no less than 20 and not more than 50 local registered voters.
