Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long made it perfectly clear what he expects from his staff as he put coach Bobby Petrino on leave for keeping him in the dark about a sordid-looking relationship with a female employee. "It's difficult any time that we have a coach, an employee that makes a misstep, it's disappointing to me," Long said. "We have high expectations. I think every coach and every administrator and every staff person knows we have high expectations. Certainly, I'm disappointed.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. - DeAngelo Hall plans to give it his all the rest of the season. He wonders if the Atlanta Falcons are making the same commitment. The Pro Bowl cornerback went off on his team yesterday - specifically coach Bobby Petrino and the front office - after the Falcons (1-6) released defensive tackle Grady Jackson during their bye week. NEW YORK - Matt Ryan found a quick way to make Falcons fans forget Michael Vick, Bobby Petrino, and all the ugliness of Atlanta football. The quarterback led a sensational turnaround from laughingstock franchise to Super Bowl contender, for which Ryan earned The Associated Press 2008 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award yesterday. And he did it in a year loaded with outstanding offensive rookie performances. "I'm certainly flattered," the former Boston College star said.
