For Bill Belichick, it's championships or nothing. In his eighth season as an assistant, the Giants won a Super Bowl, and another four years later. The longest title drought of Belichick's career followed next, over 11 seasons, as he was a head coach of the Browns, an assistant for the Patriots and Jets, then assumed command in New England for the 2000 season. Belichick won a title in his second, fourth, and fifth seasons. As Belichick and the Patriots embark on the 2011 season tonight in Miami, his and the team's title-less "drought" is now at six years.

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick's early assessment of new acquisition Albert Haynesworth is positive. Then again, it's only been one practice. "Albert has worked hard. I think that it's coming," Belichick said Tuesday. "We've got a long way to go, so just take it day-by-day, but I think he's doing fine. " Haynesworth practiced with the Patriots for the first time on Sunday. The team had Monday off, but was back on the practice field Tuesday. New England picked up Haynesworth in a trade with the Redskins last week.

For some reason — and Belichick has a reason for everything — he's loosened up this Super Bowl week with a season's worth of smiles, jokes and fashionable attire.

FOXBOROUGH -- If Bill Belichick knew whom his team will take in the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft, he surely wouldn't share that information with the public. So when the coach of the Patriots spoke to local media yesterday for the first time since his squad was bounced from the playoffs by the Denver Broncos, there was little expectation he would divulge inside information, and Belichick delivered. Or didn't. But he did touch on several subjects in the half-hour news conference, the first of what he described as a "normal offseason.

This is Bill Belichick's 37th season in the NFL, and in that time, he has seen thousands of players come and go. But having to tell them that they're out of a job hasn't gotten any easier, not since his first days with the Baltimore Colts, when Belichick became known as "Billy Bad News" because he was the Colts' Turk, the man who told players to grab their playbook and go see head coach Ted Marchibroda - essentially telling them they're being...

FOXBOROUGH -- Patriots safety Rodney Harrison was voted the dirtiest player in football in a recent poll conducted by Sports Illustrated of 354 current and former NFL players. Surprised? Harrison got 15 percent of the vote. Another player who made the list was Jets center Kevin Mawae. Both will be on the field Sunday in a battle of unbeaten teams at Gillette Stadium. Harrison is the most heavily fined player in NFL history, and that's why he believes he's been labeled a dirty player.
