New York Giants tight end Jake Ballard tore his left anterior cruciate ligament during the second half of Super Bowl, the team announced on Tuesday. An MRI discovered Ballard's injury, and with the help of crutches, he was able to participate in Tuesday's parade and ceremonies in New York and New Jersey. Ballard, an undrafted free agent, had 38 catches for 604 yards and four touchdowns this regular season. In the four playoff games, he had five catches for 43 yards. He had two receptions in the Giants' 21-17 win over New England on Sunday.

New York Giants tight ends Travis Beckum and Jake Ballard each suffered knee injuries in the Super Bowl. Beckum tore his right anterior cruciate ligament with 12:55 left in the first half on Sunday. He was hit and knocked down by Patriots linebacker Tracy White on the play. The injury happened away from the play, a short pass out of the backfield. Two trainers had to help Beckum off the field. Russell Wilson threw for 333 yards and three touchdowns as North Carolina State improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2002 by beating Cincinnati, 30-19, last night in a nonconference game in Raleigh, N.C. The Wolfpack had back-to-back 93-yard touchdown drives in the first quarter, with Wilson ending the first on a 16-yard pass to Jay Smith and Mustafa Greene running 31 yards to make it 14-0. North Carolina coach Roy Williams says forward James Michael McAdoo is doubtful for the third-ranked Tar Heels' ACC opener Saturday against Boston College. Williams says McAdoo did not practice Friday with a sprained left ankle and says it will be a game-time decision. The 6-foot-9 freshman had a season-high nine rebounds in his last game against Monmouth. He averages 6.4 points and 3.9 rebounds as a top reserve. Williams also says "it's not going to be very long from now" before it's decided whether guard Leslie McDonald will play this season.

Shaun Lewis intercepted Texas A&M’s Jerrod Johnson in the final seconds and Dan Bailey kicked a 40-yard field goal as time expired to lift Oklahoma State to a 38-35 victory over the Aggies last night in Stillwater, Okla. Johnson turned the ball over five times, including a key fumble that led to a Cowboys touchdown in the fourth quarter and his fourth interception that Lewis returned 28 yards to set up the winning kick. Brandon Weeden also had turnover problems early, but shrugged them off to throw for 284 yards and two touchdowns as the Cowboys (4-0, 1-0 Big 12)

Bulls star Derrick Rose will miss the rest of the season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
