The three "American Idol" finalists earned nearly uniform votes of confidence Wednesday from the show's judges. Now it's the audience tally that will determine which two compete for glory in next week's finale. If the night had a teacher's pet, it was Joshua Ledet, 20, who delivered what Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler deemed flawless performances. Each contestant performed three songs: One picked by the judges, one by producer-mentor Jimmy Iovine, and one chosen by the singers themselves.

Adam Lambert was commended for knowing who he was while competing on “American Idol.’’ The eighth-season runner-up might want to let his handlers in on it. From his provocative performance on the “American Music Awards’’ Sunday night to the album-by-committee feel of his debut, his musical identity isn’t completely clear. For pop fans that committee is a blue-ribbon panel that includes Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, Lady Gaga, Green Day producer Rob Cavallo, and Swedish mastermind Max Martin among many others.

"American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert was at the W Hotel Wednesday to help the folks at Kiss 108 announce the 14 acts who will be performing at this year's Kiss Concert. Lambert performed "Better Than I Know Myself" and "Trespassing," which he co-wrote with Pharrell Williams, for a rapt audience of 50 contest winners (most of whom looked to be thrilled suburban moms) and then posed for photos. Foxborough's own JoJo (clad in a Celtics shirt) also performed. Lambert was nice enough to stick around for her performance, quietly standing in the back of the room, tapping his foot...

Adam Lambert "Trespassing" (RCA/19) On his debut album three years ago, Adam Lambert was fresh off a runner-up "American Idol" finish, and eager to show off his amazing vocal range. The result was an all-things-to-everyone album ranging from classic rock crunch to hip-hop heat, with an over-the-top ballad or two thrown in. On "Trespassing," his second studio album, Lambert narrows the focus to profitable dance pop (though the hyper-emotional ballads still force their way in)

Adam Lambert isn't coming off "American Idol" or a racy American Music Awards performance, nor is he declaring his sexuality in Rolling Stone or posing with a nude model in Details magazine. The 30-year-old glam rocker doesn't mind the lack of a media thunderstorm ahead of Tuesday's launch of his sophomore album: He relishes the element of surprise. Lambert is hoping to achieve it with "Trespassing," on which he teamed up with the likes of Bruno Mars, Pharrell Williams and Dr. Luke.

Spector attorney Dennis Riordan argued that the prosecution's use of Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler's videotaped comments and his picture during prosecution summations was improper. Spector is serving 19 years to life in prison. He will rock you "They are the coolest guys. They are so down-to-earth. COHASSET — Like a certain other “American Idol’’ runner-up, Adam Lambert has a voice of profound technical ability and a fan base driven by a fervent devotion that even the person who actually won couldn’t match. But where Clay Aiken spent the first few years of his career letting his fans dictate his image, Lambert is letting it all hang out right from the start. At the South Shore Music Circus on Friday, he was confident and flamboyant. Maybe “flamboyant’’ doesn’t quite cut it. He came out in full plumage, almost literally, with a top hat wrapped in purple fishnets and...
