Phil Kessel’s 31st goal forced overtime for Toronto with 44 seconds left in the third period. Tim Connolly scored in the first period, and Clarke MacArthur added a goal in the second.
Stars 3, Canadiens 0 - Ryan Garbutt scored his first NHL goal and Kari Lehtonen made 31 saves as Dallas roughed up host Montreal.
Mike Ribeiro, in his regular-season return to Montreal, and Tom Wandell also scored for the Stars.
Blackhawks 2, Red Wings 1 - Corey Crawford made 31 saves to power host Chicago past Detroit.
Jimmy Hayes scored the tying goal in the second period and set up Marcus Kruger’s winning score in the third as Chicago earned its fourth consecutive victory since a nine-game losing streak.
Sabres 2, Islanders 1 - Ryan Miller made 30 saves, including stopping Matt Moulson on the doorstep with 4:04 left, and led host Buffalo past New York.
Tyler Myers and Thomas Vanek staked the Sabres to a 2-0 lead, and Buffalo won its second in a row since an 0-3-1 skid. Jason Pominville and Derek Roy had two assists for Buffalo.
Coyotes 5, Kings 4 - Radim Vrbata scored his second goal late in regulation and host Phoenix rallied from a three-goal deficit to defeat Los Angeles in a shootout.
Shane Doan also had two goals and Martin Hanzal matched his career high with three assists to extend Phoenix’s point streak to nine games.
Lightning 3, Ducks 2 - Steven Stamkos scored his league-leading 41st and 42d goals and added an assist for host Tampa Bay.
Stamkos put the Lightning up, 1-0, when he poked a loose puck past goalie Jonas Hiller on a power play 28 seconds into the game. The center, who has five goals and eight points during a three-game point streak, made it 2-0 at 17:58 of the first.
Blue Jackets 6, Sharks 3 - Jeff Carter had three goals - two on the power play during Columbus’ four-goal first period - and Steve Mason made 38 saves as the last-place Blue Jackets handed visiting San Jose its season-high fourth straight loss.
Logan Couture scored twice and Joe Thornton also had a goal for San Jose. Starting goalie Antti Niemi was pulled after giving up three goals on 11 shots.
