Michael Bivins talks Bobby and Whitney on ‘Matty’

New Edition’s Michael Bivins called into Kiss 108’s “Matty in the Morning’’ yesterday to talk about Whitney Houston’s relationship with Roxbury’s Bobby Brown. Bivins, who grew up with Brown around Boston and has been on tour with him since Houston’s death, defended his friend against claims that Brown is to blame for Houston’s drug problems. He said that Brown and Houston were very similar people - and that everyone must remember that Houston chose to be with Brown even though many others were interested. “Remember, she had Randall Cunningham from the [NFL’s Philadelphia] Eagles, she had Eddie Murphy . . . even Robert De Niro - so she had the A-list stars. But she picked the guy that she wanted. She invited him to her party and he came in, they cut up on the dance floor and she found the love of her life,’’ Bivins said.
