City gets 2 new firefighters

The city this month welcomed two new firefighters. Shane Henderson and Douglas Burrill were sworn in to the Haverhill Fire Department on Feb. 9. They were the eighth and ninth firefighters to join the department within the past year, according to Mayor James J. Fiorentini. The department now has 87 firefighters, up from 84 at this time last year, he said. The budget for the fiscal year that began July 1 has funding for 92 firefighters. - Brenda J. Buote
