DAVE My roommate gave me a pep talk before I headed out. I was calm.
KATHERINE I don’t usually get nervous before a date, but I was a little bit nervous and also excited.
>STARTING LINE
KATHERINE I was sitting at the bar when Dave walked in. I assumed it was him, but I wasn’t sure.
DAVE I gave my reservation to the host, and he asked if I saw Katherine at the bar. I told him it was a blind date, so he seated me and went back to find her.
KATHERINE After the host came back from seating Dave at the table, I asked [if he was my date]. I didn’t want to embarrass myself by making any assumptions.
>HITTING THE TRAIL
DAVE My first impression of Katherine was that she was short and had dark hair.
KATHERINE Dave was handsome and dressed very nicely. He is super tall!
DAVE Katherine seemed calm but excited. She was very energetic.
KATHERINE He seemed calm; it helped calm my nerves. We talked for about
25 minutes before we ordered.
>BREAKING FOR LUNCH
KATHERINE We shared an appetizer and both got entrees. The chocolate chip cookie sliders were awesome!
DAVE The food and the staff were good. I ordered prosciutto macaroni and cheese.
KATHERINE The server didn’t try to rush us; she obviously knew we were on a blind date.
>TAKING IN THE SCENERY
KATHERINE Dave really surprised me. He’s an athlete who has traveled, plays the piano, and paints.
DAVE Katherine is really close to her family. We talked about traveling in Europe; she visits her grandparents in Greece every year, and I studied in Ireland.
KATHERINE Malbec is our favorite red wine. Most people have never heard of Malbec. We also share an interest in art.
DAVE We both enjoy skiing and cooking. She had a great personality and was easy to talk to.
KATHERINE I felt very comfortable from the beginning, and the conversation was easy.
>ON WITH THE AFTERNOON
KATHERINE We both realized we’d been there for 3½ hours, so it was probably time to let someone else have the table.
DAVE We walked to the Park Street T station together and hugged goodbye.
