Using a hat to declare your personality

IN THE FASHION WORLD, a winter hat does a lot more than keep you warm. “It’s a representation of who you are and completes your own personal style,” says edgy local retailer Alan Bilzerian. “People are now building an outfit around a hat like they used to with scarves and jewelry.” Looking new are soft felted fedoras, gambler derbies, and “steamboat captain” caps for both sexes, says Bilzerian, adding, “We’ve done more this season with men’s hats for women than in the past 25 years.” As seen here around town, it pays to start at the top.
