McCarthy visits Globe show

Who was that handsome man at the Boston Globe Travel Show? Andrew McCarthy, of course. The actor famous for his roles in such Brat Pack classics as “St. Elmo’s Fire,’’ “Pretty in Pink,’’ and “Less Than Zero’’ has reinvented himself as a travel writer - and a pretty good one at that. McCarthy is an editor at large with National Geographic Traveler, and has twice received the Travel Journalist of the Year award from the Society of American Travel Writers. At the Globe show, McCarthy spoke about his new career and also posed for photos with fans of his film work.
