NEW YORK STAGE: “The Yeats Game,’’ a play written by Gloucester resident John J. Ronan, premiered in his hometown in 2007, and went on to be performed in Boston. Now, it has found its way to New York City.

The farce, presented by American Storyboard Inc., runs Feb. 29 through March 25 at the Producers Club.

Kathy Richter directs a cast of four: Toby Wherry, Susan Stout, Jennifer Silverstein, and Lucius Wall.

The play is about middle-age choices and their consequences. At a funeral, as two couples contemplate a friend’s fatal, love-nest heart attack, they flash back to their own recent snowed-in weekend at a mountain cabin. There, a board game designed for age-hating baby boomers leads to tangled romance as the old friends explore love, lust, marriage, and mischief.

Ronan describes the play as “a comical, brainy look at the pre-geezer years.’’

In addition to being a playwright, poet, and journalist, Ronan is the host of “The Writer’s Block,’’ a program on Cape Ann TV’s Channel 12 that features local writers, actors, and other artists. It began its 22d season in September.

American Storyboard is a nonprofit company dedicated to producing high-quality documentaries, plays, and other forms of media.

“The Yeats Game’’ is lined up for 24 performances - 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays; 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays - at 358 West 44th St. in Manhattan.

Tickets are $30. Call 212-868-4444 or visit www.smarttix.com. For more information, visit www.theyeatsgame.org.
