Vt. bank manager sentenced to 5 months for fraud

A former Vermont bank manager accused of stealing at least $165,000 to pay for personal expenses has been sentenced to five months in prison.

Prosecutors say 45-year-old Brian Bouchard of Burlington took the money between February 2009 and February 2011 when employed at Chittenden Bank/People’s United Bank. A bank customer noticed funds missing from an account last and notified the bank.

Bouchard pleaded guilty in October. The Burlington Free Press reports (http://bfpne.ws/yvyWsD) he paid the money back.

Bouchard will be on supervised released for two years following his prison term.
