Letter: Ferry costs more for cash-strapped MBTA

Sorry to have to disagree, but the MBTA is out of money (“Foes rise against MBTA cutbacks,’’ Jan. 29).

It costs more per person to take a ferry than to take a bus or train. We cannot subsidize the ferry service to the elite sections of the city while cutting bus service to places like Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan.

It also does not make sense to run boats in the winter in New England - that is why most people take their boats out of the water during the fall and winter months.
