T’s planned fare and route cuts draw fire

More than 300 residents and numerous town and state officials from the South Shore went to Town Hall yesterday to protest the MBTA’s proposals to cut service and increase fares on bus and ferry routes. Many of those who attended called for state intervention and said the proposals are only short-term solutions. The meeting was one of several the agency is holding to discuss solutions to its $161 million budget deficit in fiscal 2013.
