The New England Aquarium, one of the region’s most popular attractions, is planning a $15 million renovation of its core exhibits as the final phase of a five-year upgrade.
Aquarium officials say the goal is to enhance the facility’s physical appearance and to bolster educational and conservation missions.
Officials tell The Boston Globe the 10-month project that will begin around Labor Day includes refurbishing the facility’s central four-story Giant Ocean Tank and surrounding exhibit spaces.
President Bud Ris says the goal is to give visitors an entirely new experience.
