A convicted murdered from Lewiston has been indicted by a federal grand jury for threatening to kill an official with the Social Security Administration.
Harold Rowe made his first appearance Thursday in U.S. District Court in Maine on Thursday. The 54-year-old Rowe did not enter a plea to the charge of mailing threatening communications to the deputy commissioner for Budget, Finance, and Management of the Social Security Administration in September.
U.S. Magistrate Judge John Rich continued the hearing for at least a week.
