Handout

This morning, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, which according to legend means there will be six more weeks of winter.

Here in the Boston area, most folks are saying "If this is what you call winter, we can handle it for six more weeks.

Boston.com's Weather Wisdom blogger David Epstein recently wrote about the region's mild, relatively snowless winter so far, which he called "part of the normal cycle of highly variable temperatures and snowfall."

So take Phil's prediction with a grain of salt, and when the forecast eventually calls for some shovelable snow (and it probably will), just tell yourself that spring is right around the corner.
