A former member of the City Council who sought reelection to the panel last year was indicted yesterday on voting fraud charges, the Middlesex district attorney’s office said. Mark Evangelous, 51, who ran unsuccessfully for an at-large seat last year, allegedly submitted an absentee ballot application in October bearing the signature of a city resident who had died, District Attorney Gerard T. Leone Jr.’s office said. Evangelous sought the ballot to give himself an advantage in the November election, the office said. Evangelous faces charges of forgery, uttering, and violating absentee voting laws.
