Massachusetts officials and members of the state’s Haitian-American community are coming together at the Statehouse to remember the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti more than two years ago.
Gov. Deval Patrick and state Rep. Linda Dorcena Forry, D-Boston, are hosting the event Monday.
It will include the presentation of a special proclamation to the Haitian consulate, declaring Jan. 12 through Feb. 11 as Haitian Earthquake Remembrance Month in Massachusetts.
The Jan. 12, 2010, disaster killed 316,000 people and displaced 1.5 million others.
