WASHINGTON -- The Celtics have been hobbled with injuries all season and they received another scare when guard Ray Allen left Sunday's game in the second quarter with the Washington Wizards with what the team is calling a "jammed" left ankle. X-rays were negative and Allen said he will try to play tomorrow night against the Orlando Magic.
Allen ran into an illegal screen by Washington rookie Jan Vesely and crumbled to the floor, leaving with 6:36 left in the half.
"The guy stuck his leg out and when I tried to get over the screen and my foot didn't come down and it just kind of jammed, as I tried to get through, it just kind of locked in," he said after the Celtics' 100-94 win. "There's pain in the back of my ankle. If I had my druthers, I would have tried to come back out on the floor and work through it but I just felt too much tightness and pain in it right now.
"It's a blessing that we played early. I have the rest of the day ... hopefully the pain resolves and hopefully we'll see by tomorrow."
Allen had double ankle surgery that cost him the final 27 games of the 2006-07 season with the Seattle SuperSonics.
