The Paramount in Beacon Hill is famed for its breakfasts. On weekends, patrons stand in line for fluffy buttermilk pancakes, banana-caramel French toast, and laden omelets. Now the good people of Southie can line up in their own neighborhood. Last month, a second branch of the restaurant opened on East Broadway.

There is, however, more to the Paramount than pancakes. Both locations also serve lunch and dinner. In the afternoon, customers can order grilled Reubens, pulled pork panini, salmon burgers with wasabi mayo, and more. Some of these dishes reappear at night, in addition to entrees such as pasta Bolognese, braised short rib pot roast, and steak tips with a “secret bbq marinade.’’

Executive chef Gabriel Cheung says the new location has been very busy at night. Weekend brunch may always be the Paramount’s toast and butter, but creative comfort food is welcome at any time.
