A Special Town Meeting has been scheduled to decide whether to control mobile home rents, accept the donation of a pond and dam, and purchase a generator for Town Hall. The session will be held Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Oliver Ames High School. A mobile home bylaw, which will need state legislative approval if passed, would set up a board to regulate rents and evictions at the town’s mobile home community and establish occupancy standards. The donation by the Ames family of the Shovel Shop pond and dam would give the town the ability to better regulate water levels in ponds and streams. The generator, costing an estimated $85,000, would help avert data loss from power outages such as occurred during storms last year.
