Conn. officials interview survivor of deadly fire

January 13, 2012

Connecticut investigators have interviewed a woman whose three daughters and parents were killed in a Christmas morning fire.

Police Sgt. Paul Guzda said police interviewed Madonna Badger Thursday night. He declined to disclose details.

Badger and Michael Borcina, a friend and contractor who had been renovating the house, managed to escape the fire. Guzda said police plan to interview Borcina soon.

Officials want to determine whether the house had working smoke detectors.

Authorities say embers in a bag of discarded fireplace ashes started the blaze.

Badger is a New York City advertising executive.
