FRAMINGHAM - The attorney for Onyango Obama, the president’s uncle, said yesterday he will review the driving records of the Framingham police officer who arrested Onyango Obama for drunken driving last year.

P. Scott Bratton told District Court Judge Robert V. Greco that Framingham’s town counsel office had provided him with copies of records detailing Officer Val Krishtal’s driving history while on duty. The town provided the records in response to Bratton’s Dec. 27 request for them.

“We want to review the record and see if there is a pattern of conduct of bad driving behavior on the part of the arresting officer,’’ Bratton said to reporters after the brief hearing.

Obama appeared in court yesterday, but declined to speak with reporters.

In his initial motion for the records, Bratton noted that the officer lost control of his cruiser on Nov. 22, 2011 and crashed into a stone wall while responding to call for a report of gunshots. That accident is being investigated.

“In addition . . . there have been numerous incidents investigated by the Framingham PD over the past several years involving Officer Val Krishtal and the operation of a motor vehicle while on duty,’’ Bratton wrote in his motion.

Obama was arrested Aug. 24 after he allegedly ran through a stop sign.

Krishtal has said that Obama turned so quickly he nearly crashed his cruiser into the vehicle.

Bratton said in his motion that he believes Kristhal’s driving records could provide information that contradicts the officer’s account of that day.

Obama, who lives in Framingham, was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol after he took a chemical breath test at the police station that showed his blood-alcohol level to be 0.14 percent, according to a report filed by the Framingham Police Department. The legal limit is .08.

Obama was also charged with failure to yield and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Bratton has also filed paperwork seeking to suppress the chemical breath test and is challenging the legality of Obama’s arrest. A hearing on those issues is scheduled for March 1.
